Join a clean up & environment awareness Trek

A sweet and short trek in Annapurna region with an easy access from Pokhara city. The famous Ponhill and Ghandruk village trail is actually busy with trekkers. Being an Eco and environment concious trekking agency, we are going to do as our regular clean up and environment awarness project by cleaning this area with participation of locals and foreigners. No matter whether nature or trekking lover and anybody from anywhere around the world are welcome to join us and enjoy the clean up work. We will make necessary garbage bin, clean the trails, giving lesson to villagers and lodge owners to keep the area clean and fresh and of course some contribution in local economy.

We, Holiday Mountain Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. will be the organizer, providing excellent support and friendly staff to ensure all service provided to you is at its best possible and of course much enjoyable one. We have made an itinerary and chosen an area to suite for everyone not only clean up but plenty of time to see and explore the attractions of the area.

We plan to organize a group of 12 to 18 people and tentative duration is from Sep 22 to 29 in 2010.

Brief introduction on Ghoprepani Ponnhill Trek
The trek starts with an hour drive to Birethanti then start trek by cleaning the route. It is something to be experienced making cleaner than before, meeting local people, exchange the knowledge, culture and feeling better. This clean up trek visits the thriving Gurung settlement of Ghandruk, where many ex-Gurkha soldiers run cozy lodges. It winds through the magical rhododendron forest that inspired the setting for the Hobbit trilogy. At Ghorepani, the ridgeline trail meets a major trade route, plied by donkey trains carrying loads north toward Tibet. An early morning climb up to Poon Hill (3,200m/ 10,500ft) rewards you sunrise with panoramic views of the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak), and Dhaulagiri. The trail then climbs to Deurali with great mountain views all the day and reach to Tadapani for the overnight. From here the trail descends through the forest and villages to Ghandruk. We climb down to Modi river then steep up to Landruk. Continue climb to the small pass through the forest then to Pothana for the overnight. It is an easy walk to Dhampus with great mountain views then a steep climb down to Phedi from where we drive back to Pokhara Schedule

Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu airport, you will be met by the staff from our agency. Transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
The following morning you will be taken on a half day sightseeing tour of the many temples and interesting Surrounding sights of Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Pokhara
Transferred by tourist bus for about 6 -hour to Pokhara, a beautiful town set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu and is the perfect starting point for our trek. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy either doing last minute shopping for the trek or packing your kitty bag for the following day’s departure.

Day 04: Pokhara – Birethanti – Ulleri 2065m.
Drive an hour to Birethanti (1140m) from Pokhara. Trekking starts through the lush, green Modi river valley, past waterfalls with plunge pools. Ascend steep staircase to Magar village of Ulleri (2070m,) where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley below and the peaks of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Day 05: Ulleri – Ghorepani 2755m.
A gentle climb through pasture and cultivated fields. As the trail climbs higher, you walk up beside the cascading river through refreshingly cool oak and rhododendron forest to Ghorepani (2840m.)

Day 06: Ghorepani – Tadapani 2715m.
Early-morning climb to the Poonhill and enjoy sunrise over the peaks and magnificent mountain panoramic view. A short ascend to Deurali pass for a spectacular panorama over Dhaulagiri and the Annapurnas. Trail descends steeply through dense moss-covered forest rich with bird life to Tadapani (2540m) for beautiful sunset views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchre.

Day 07: Tadapani – Ghandruk
The trail drops down from Tadapani, through dense rhododendron forest to Ghandruk. Here are lots of things to do as we have almost halh day. The village is well developed with provides the information of the region and tourists activites.

Day 08: Ghandruk – Pothana
After an easy descent to Modi Khola and climb up to the Gurung village of Landrung, the trail crosses a pass before arriving at the tiny village of Pothana, perched high on a ridge.

Day 09: Pothana – Pokhara
It’s a short climb down to Phedi, where we meet the road and drive back to Pokhara. Sadly this is the last day of your trek you return to Pokhara. Pokhara will seem like a teeming metropolis after the serenity of the hill trails. You’re last night in Pokhara is a great opportunity to throw a party for the helping crew of the project.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu or flight at an extra cost USD 76.00

Day 11: Rest day at leisure or final souvenir shopping. Join the farewell dinner in the evening most probably with cultural program.

Day 12: Departure transfer to airport.

Organizing cost: USD 625

Service includes: food, hot drinks, lodge accommodation, conservation/entrance fee, ground transportation, guide & sherpa, staff insurance, hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu/Pokhara, ½ day sight seeing tour, arrival/departure transfer, taxes, service charge etc.

Service excludes: Personal wears & gears, personal nature expenses, emergency rescue cost, lunch/dinner in Kathmandu/Pokhara, cold beverage, mineral water, alcoholic drinks etc.
