Bhutan as being mountainous terrain offers a fascinating adventure for bicycling enthusiast. Bhutan’s West-East highway is an exciting route with challenges of some over 3000m high and wild passes everyday. Its green, clean, peace and most beautiful landscape make the bicycle ride an enjoyable and memorable one.

Himalayan River Rafting and Kayaking
Bhutan offers huge variety of rafting and kayaking from short and easy rafting experiences for beginners to mad adventures for real freaks in expedition style combining few rivers. Most of the rivers grading 2-5 classes are found best for kayaking as they are narrow and low water. Best time is March to April and November to December.

Rock climbing
The Vertical Bhutan Climbing Club first introduced rock climbing in Bhutan in 1998. Climbing rock ideally situated just above Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, offers 13 different safely bolted climbing routes in difficulty degrees from 4B up to 7B in lengths between 12 and 27 meters. The club provides climbing equipment and training if required.

Golf
The Royal Thimphu Golf Course is a challenging nine hole (par 33 golf) course beautifully set up between Thimphu’s Tashichodzong and the views of spectacular mountains. The course’s water hazards are man made and are strategically placed for a challenging game on the narrow fairways.

Festival tour is the best combination of cultural and tradition. The festivals are an important part of Bhutanese peoples from the long ago. The Tshechu one of the largest tourist attraction is the most famous and well-known Bhutanese festival. These festivals are celebrated in the courtyards of the Dzongs (fortresses) in all the Dzongkhags (districts) with traditional dances blessing by Lamas and Mewangs by fire believing that it washes away their sins. The Tshechu is held in honor of Guru Rinpochhe, who brought Mahayana Buddhism to Bhutan in the eighth century. Bhutanese legend has a religious significance to people and says that on the tenth calendar day the great Guru Rinpochhe transformed himself into different forms to subdue demons. People dress traditionally in their finest clothing and jewelry. The festival is religious implication and community gathering where Bhutanese come to socialize and feast on native delicacies.
