Welcome to
adventurously nature beauty and remote area of western region.
The page provides exclusive information, itineraries, schedules,
trekking equipments, basic knowledge of special/restricted
area on tented camp trekking in Nepal with Fully escorted to
Jumla Rara Lake, lower Dolpo Phuksundo Lake, upper Dolpo Ringmo,
Dho Tarap, Kagmara-La and Dhorpatan as a licensed under Nepal
Government treks/trips/tour organizer/operator agency in Nepal.
The region with Nepal's largest lake, unique culture, yak
caravans, trekking through deep forests and tranquil natural
beauty and the legendary Shay Gompa and crystal Mountains.
Obscure and wondrous beauties like Api, Nampa, Saipal, Kagmara
and Kanjiroba. Names that friends back home will never have
heard of, but that surely have a special place in the hearts
of all who have stood in their shadows. This region is described
as unexplored and extends from the Kali Ganga and the frontier
with India in the west to the Dhaulagiri Himal in the east,
the tract of hill country drained by the Karnali and its
tributaries is the wildest, most remote and least trekked
part of Nepal. Many of the culturally and scenically exotic
regions are in restricted areas with high permit fee. Some
of these treks, including Shey Gompa, to the north of the
Phoksundo Lake and Humla are restricted areas. Main inhabitants
in the region are Chhetri and few Tibetans in the border
side. Most homes are built in Tibetan style and their flat
roofs covered with packed earth are suited to the semi-arid
conditions of the region behind Dhaulagiri Himal. Western
Neal was once the center of large empire that extended into
Tibet and India. It is remote and less trekked because of
its relative inaccessibility and its distance from kathmandu.
Regular flights to Jumla, Dolpo, Mugu airstrips in the west
reduce this remoteness somewhat but add considerably to the
cost of trekking. So treks here tend to be expensive, since
you and the gears must travel by plan or long advance and
trekking are fully organized. The history and anthropology
of western Nepal are complex and fascinating
Permit and fee
As most of are of this region restricted, a trekking requires a high permit fee especially in Simikot and upper doplo. However no trekking is require to trek to Jumla Rara lake trek but National park(Rara and Shey-Foksundo National and other preserve) fee is require in western region as there are trek to this region also no requires a trekking permit except Kanchenjunga area but need a conservation and Makalu Barun National Park entry permit fee.
Access
The most practical way to get there is by air as there is no road access. There few air strips in this region with regular flight from Nepalgunj to Dunai, Juphal, simikot and Mugu. The other option is drive to Baglung and walk in to for a week but it is not practical at this time.
People and culture
The main ethnic group in this region is the Thakuri Chhettri. In the north part close to border to Tibet there are Sherpa and Tibetan too. Both Hindu and Buddhism are in practice but the majority is Hindu. There are some other coasts as well and dress up common to middle hill inhabited peoples of Nepal , the culture is same though.
Flora and fauna
Rich in flora ground orchids, edelweise, corydalis, campanulas, impatiens, rose etc. snow pigeons, griffons, crow, eagle, implying pheasant etc. and blue sheep, snow leopard, jackleg, deer etc.
Trail and facilities
It is much difficult to trek in western region using tea house for food and accommodation. So a trek to this region requires tented camp trek with food and necessary staffs.
Season
The best time to trek to this reason is August to September as the Dolpa area is rain shadow. This time, wildflowers are in bloom. However spring and autumn season are also good time to trek. The winter is cold and snow so it is not recommended time.
