Club is going to
organize a Charity trek to Everest Base Camp in October 2006
with the assistance of Holiday Mountain Treks & Expedition
Pvt. Ltd. It is not only a trekking to the highest mountain
Mt. Everest but a fund raise project for disabled people. So
we heartily welcome to join us anybody from anywhere around
the world. Support can be done by sponsoring but moreover,
we invite you to walk here sharing enthusiasm and see what
differences we can make for their betterment.
We, Holiday Mountain Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. will
be the ground handler, who takes all the responsibility and
arrangements of the trek providing excellent support, dedicated,
experienced and friendly staff to ensure all service provided
to you is at its best possible and of course much enjoyable
one. We have made an itinerary that gives necessary acclimatization
and plenty of time to see and explore the attractions of the
area.
We plan to organize a group of 10 to 17 people and tentative
duration is from October 5 to 19 in 2006.
Brief introduction on Everest Base Camp Trek
One of the most popular classic trek to the world's highest
mountain and its friendly Sherpa people, picturesque villages,
great variety of cultures and traditions, Start festivals and
monasteries. The trekkers will be highly rewarded of your effort
with spectacular views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam and
other great peaks. You fly to Lukla airstrip and trek Commences
here with an easy walk to Phakding and going up crossing Dudh
Koshi River several times a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar -
Sherpa capital. A day is spent here for acclimatization and
just soaking up the atmosphere of this bustling village before
heading on up through Tengboche with the great monastery, Pheriche,
Lobuche village and finally to your highest overnight at Gorak
Shep. This is the jumping off point for the climb up to Kala
Patter (5545m) for spectacular views of Mt. Everest, and the
walk in to Everest Base Camp. The trek along the glacier to
base camp can take up to four hours depending on the trail
conditions, make sure that you have food and drinks for the
return trip. The return trek to Lukla basically flows the upward
route but rest days are obviously not necessary.
Project program
Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu airport and
transferred to the hotel. Free in the daytime, in the evening
you will meet your trekking guide and a pre-trek briefing on
the itinerary and project.
Day 02: Sight visit of the project
and a preparation of necessary items for the trek.
Day 03: Kathmandu
- Lukla 2800m. - Phakding 2670m.
Fly to Lukla and start trekking.
The trail climbs for about an hour after Puiyan to a ridge at
2800 meters, then up to another ridge, passing the path to Lukla
airport, after which we climb on to Phakding.
Day 04: Phakding
to Namche Bazaar 3415m.
The trail continues north up the Dudh
Kosi valley to Jorsale, where the trail officially enters the
Sagarmatha National Park. We continue along the trail, cross
the Bhote Kosi River and climb steeply to Namche Bazaar 3500m.
Day
05: Rest day for Acclimatization.
We have a rest day in Namche
Bazaar to acclimatise. This town, the hub of Sherpa society,
is the administrative centre of the Khumbu region and has a police
check post (we must all register there), the headquarters of
the Sagarmatha National Park, a bank, several shops selling items
of every description and a proliferation of Sherpa inns. We spend
the day relaxing or exploring the town.
Day 06: Namche - Tengboche 3825m.
An easy and
pleasant walk to Khumjung and then the trail descend to the
Dhudkosi river the trail climbs through forests where you can
spot musk deer. Tengboche sits on a saddle at 3870m in a clearing
surrounded by dwarf fires and rhododendrons. Kwangde (6187m,)
Tawachhe (6542m) EVEREST (8848 m) Nuptse (7855m,) Lhotse (8618m,)
Ama Dablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m) provide an inspiring panorama
of Himalayan giants. We visit the monastery at Tengboche, the
largest in Khumbu region.
Day 07: Tengboche - Dingboche 4230m.
The trail descends to Deboche
through a forest of birches, conifers and rhododendrons. We
then cross the bridge and ascend through the forest, past magnificently
carved mani stones to Pangboche at 3860m. Then the route enters
alpine meadows above the tree line before reaching Dingboche
at 4240m.
Day 08: Dingboche - Lobuche 4930m.
The trail ascends the broad, gently sloping valley and climbs
steeply into the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glaciers. It
then crosses the bridge and climbs higher on the moraine to
a row of stone monuments. We then cross the tree line and reach
to Lobuche (4930m.)
Day 09: Lobuche - Kala Pattar
5546m.- Gorkshep 5160m.
The trail from Lobuche follows the grassy
ablation valley with great views of Pumori then crosses a tributary
glacier to reach the dry lakebed of Gorak Shep. We then climb
the 5545m Kala Pattar for incredible views of Everest and Everest
Base Camp. After an hour excursion, we descend to Gorakshep
for the overnight.
Day 10: Gorkshep - Dingboche 4230m.
After an optional excursion to EBC, you return to Lobuche
and a short descend to Thukla and an easy flat trail to and
a small descend to Dingboche. This is the highest big settlement
in the Khumbu area of Sherpas.
Day 11: Dingboche - Tengboche
From Dingboche
we descend the valley of the Imja Khola, trek to Pangboche
through the potatoes fields, down alpine pastures. The Pangboche
Gompa (monastery) is the oldest in the Khumbu and once used
to boast the skull and hand of a Yeti, Leaving Pangboche the
route descends past some magnificently carved mani stones to
the Imja Khola, which we cross via a steel suspension bridge
high above the river at a spot where it rushes through a narrow
cleft then to Debache and a short steep climb to Tengboche
through a forest of birches conifers and rhododendrons.
Day 12: Tengboche - Namche Bazaar
From Tengboche
the trail drops sharply down to the Dudh Kosi and the village
of Phunki, where we cross the river, and up toward Namche Bazaar,
winding high above the river with views north towards Everest,
Lhotse and Nuptse.
Day 13: Namche - Lukla
We retrace our trek
down along the gorge of the Dudh Kosi to at Lukla to catch
our return flight to Kathmandu.
Day 14: Fly - Kathmandu
Fly back to Kathmand
and transfer to hotel then free time in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Full day sight-seeing tour of Kthmandu Valley. In
the evening join a dinner with cultural program.
Day 16: Departure transfer to airport.
Cost: USD 1045.00 p/person based on 5 star hotel in kathmandu.
