Island Peak

Island Peak/Imja-tse 6160m.~The mountain is logically an outlier on the south ridge of Lhotse Shar and enclosed by the giant Lhotse and Imja Glaciers. Easily accessible from Chhukung but note that the grassy slopes above here are prone to avalanche after heavy snowfall. Base camp is often at Pareshaya Gab 5075m. and high camp at about 5700m. The summit ridge used to be quite straightforward, though there are various ice gendarmes and crevasses which are passed on the south side. The summit has awe-inspiring views up Lhotse towering overhead.
